The Bayelsa State Governor-elect, Douye Diri has extended an olive branch to members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to join him in building the state.
Diri spoke after he received certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Friday.
He also appealed to some PDP members who left the party to the APC to come back so that they could build the state together.
“Those who got angry and left us to the APC, please come back, I am waving the olive branch, we have to build Bayelsa State together.
“I am also calling on my brothers in APC, they are Bayelsans, we cannot continue to be in disunity, being APC does not remove you as my brother from Bayelsa state. So I am extending an olive branch to by brothers and sisters in APC,’ he said.
Good to see and hear this from Bayelsa and from H.E. Gov-Elect Sen. Duoye Diri – absolute unity of all Ijaws in such a unique state is crucial going forward and this is a step in the right direction. pic.twitter.com/8Qjg9oOGxe
