A man identified as Gbenga Owoosi, a secondary school teacher in Ekiti, has been arrested and dismissed for allegedly impregnating a 17-year-old student, preparing for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Babatunde Abegunde, on Tuesday.

Abegunde noted that the decision to dismiss Gbenga Owoosi was approved after thorough investigation and due process were followed.

Abegunde said the dismissal would serve as a deterrent to others who might want to indulge in such a “depraved and unethical” act.

He, however, praised the Ekiti state government for swinging into action by arresting Owoosi.

Abegunde also assured members of the public that Governor Fayemi’s administration will restore the Ekiti values by ensuring justice and bringing offenders to justice without hesitation.

Gbenga Owoosi was until his dismissal a Grade Level 10 Economics teacher at the Alarelu Comprehensive High School, Igbara Odo-Ekiti, in the Ekiti South West Local Government Area of the state.
