27th April, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation Monday, April 27 at 8pm. The broadcast will be relayed simultaneously by all radio and TV stations.
Media adviser, Femi Adesina urged all electronic stations to link up with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
It will be Buhari’s third address since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
The broadcast comes amidst conflicting suggestions on whether he should extend the lockdown imposed on Ogun, Lagos and the FCT Abuja.
Buhari first imposed the lockdown late March and extended it two weeks ago.
Some states took unilateral lockdowns of their own to stem the spread of the virus.
According to the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control, 27 states have been stricken by the virus, with Lagos, the most affected.
But testing has been slow, with NCDC recording 10, 918 tests countrywide since the lockdown.
Till date, 1273 cases have been confirmed, 239 cases have been discharged and 40 deaths have been recorded in 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
