Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered thorough investigation into the mayhem that erupted at the Ile-Epo Market on Monday.
The crisis reportedly erupted following the alleged killing of an okada rider by policemen attached to Ile-Epo Police Station.
Hoodlums broke loose after the killing of the okada riders and attempted to set ablaze the police station, but they were resisted.
There was pandemonium in the area as windscreens of vehicles were shattered by the hoodlums.
Large number of combatant policemen were deployed to the area to maintain peace and quell the riot which brought about normalcy.
Police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said normalcy had been restored to the area.
”The Commissioner of Police,Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for thorough investigation into the incident.
“The command wishes to debunk the rumour that Ile Epo Police Station was set ablaze by the hoodlums. This news is false and should be disregarded.The command intends to give details of the incident as soon as possible,” he said.
