Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams has attacked the Department of State Services (DSS) for failing to produce 12 arrested aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho in court.

A court had ordered the DSS to produce aides of Igboho arrested when they invaded the agitator’s house in court, but the DSS did not produce them as directed.

Adams, in a statement on Friday, said the nation’s constitution was clear about the rights of every citizen that anybody arrested must be taken to court latest 24 hours after his arrest and such rights must be protected under the law.

He said it was sad and most unfortunate that the DSS had arrogated to itself covert power that usually reminded one the inglorious years of the military where citizens rights had no basis in their law.

Adams added that the DSS’ failure to present Igboho’s aides in court for the second time was a flagrant display of lawlessness and gross injustice.

The Aare Onakakanfo stated that, ideally, it was only the President and the vice president of the country that had that immunity as provided by the constitution.

He queried why the DSS was finding it too difficult to allow the constitution to take its course as it was done in other climes.
