NYSC: 21 prospective corps members test positive for Covid-19

21 prospective corps members of the Batch ‘B’ stream (I) orientation course posted to Taraba State have tested positive for COVID-19.

A staff of the National Youth Service Corps in Taraba who confirmed the development said the cases were discovered after the prospective corps members were tested from the gate.

According to the source, the affected members have now been isolated.

“We are not allowed to speak to the press on any issue. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, only the National Secretariat can comment.

“But in confidence, I can confirm to you that we have 21 positive cases of COVID-19 in our camp in Sibre, but there is no course for alarm.

“All the 21 cases are from prospective corps members who have not been admitted in the camp.

“From the gate where they tested positive, they were taken to the isolation center in the camp where they are being treated. After some time, their sample will be taken again to test their status.

“From the information available to us in the camp, once they tested negative, they will be allowed to join the rest of the corps members for camp activities,” the source told Punch.
