Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari has said that the spate of banditry in the state has reduced, citing the report his government received.

The governor said this during the 2021 Thanksgiving Day in the state as he thanked God for improved security in Katsina.

Masari while speaking said that God has been kind to his state especially in area of security challenges.

Katsina State in 2020 experienced one of the worst bandit attacks in Nigeria when over 300 students were abducted from a boys’ secondary boarding school in Kankara.

The kidnap was rumoured to have been carried out by terrorist group Boko Haram.

However, officials from Katsina later confirmed that the abduction was carried out by bandits in the state.

A week after the kidnap of the students, the students were released.

During the thanksgiving, Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq lauded the governor for organizing the session noting that it will help unite the state.
