Italy’s team have won the 4×100 metres Tokyo Olympic men’s relay, beating Team Great Britain just by a few inches of the head.

The Canadian team of Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney and Jerome Blake took the bronze.

Great Britain took the silver, with Nathaneel Mitchell Blake narrowly losing to Filippo Tortu of Italy in the last lap.

The Italians won in a time of 37.50 seconds. Team GB had 37.51 seconds and Canada 37.70.

With the race, Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs has won his second gold in the Tokyo Olympics, after winning the 100 metres on Sunday.

Jamaica women easily took the gold in the 4×100 women’s event.

The race featured the three medalists in the 100 meters, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson, with Briana Williams running the leadoff leg.
