Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has countered former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) for saying that Nigeria’s next president should be in his 60s and not 70s.

Babangida, in an interview on Arise TV on Friday insisted that the Nigerian leader in 2023 must be in his sixties.

By his assertion, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar are automatically ruled out of the 2023 presidency.

Babangida also confirmed that he has been scouting for a new Nigerian leader who would be in his sixties in 2023.

But Sani on Saturday punctured Babangida’s argument, saying that the age of Nigeria’s next president did not matter.

He said as long as the person is healthy and experienced, such could be trusted to take the nation out of the wood.

Shehu added that anyone who could heal and unify the country that is now bleeding, no matter the age, could be Nigeria’s president.

“The age of the next President doesn’t matter as long as he is healthy, experienced and can heal and unify the country now bleeding and tearing apart.
The country needs peace and unity now,” Shehu said.
