Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has condemned the incessant killings of citizens in Plateau state and other parts of the country.

He stated this in reaction to the report of an attack on innocent travellers on a major highway in Plateau State.

In a statement issued and signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku commiserated with the families of the deceased.

One, for losing a dear one and, secondly, in the gruesome and callous manner they met their untimely deaths.

Meanwhile, he noted that security outfits are doing their very best in the current circumstance to ensure safety.

However, skirmishes like this and the pain accompanying it makes us feel as though enough is not being done.

According to Atiku, the security system in the country needs to be scaled up or to give moral and logistical support for security operatives.

This, he said, would enable them to continue to face this battle and register victory that will restore peace and safety of lives and property to every Nigerian.

He prayed that the Almighty Allah heals the land and accept all the souls that have been lost to these cruel acts of killings.
