No fewer than 12 female football clubs from across the country are set to lock horns in the maiden edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament.
The tournament which is part of the pet project of the Edo State First Lady is aimed at pulling out adult female from the streets, especially those who show football talents.
A statement from the Head, Media and Communication Committee of the tournament, Ebomhiana Musa, said the maiden edition of the women football tournament holds in the ancient city of Benin from September 26 through October 3, 2021.
The statement added that the tournament, amongst others, is aimed at encouraging women football in Nigeria and prepare the various clubs to put them in top shape for the take-off of the new league season.
Meanwhile, the unveiling of the logo for the maiden edition of the tournament has been scheduled to hold on Friday, August 20, 2021.
The unveiling event will hold at the new Banquet Hall, Government House, Benin, by 10.30 am.
