The University of Lagos has approved the reopening of the campus and hostels in preparation for the second semester exams which would commence on Thursday, August 26.
This comes six weeks after the school closed its campus and suspended physical lectures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the campus.
Mr. Oladejo Azeez, the University’s registrar in a statement on Tuesday night announced the reopening of the school as he revealed that since the school closed, lectures continued online.
The registrar said while physical examination begins on campus, strict covid-19 safety protocols would be adhered to for the safety of members of staff and students during the exams.
He noted that UNILAG has also made special arrangements with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi-Araba and the Lagos State-owned Gbagada General Hospital to isolate and treat anyone that contracts the virus during the exams.
However, Oladejo said only bonafide students with allocated bed spaces would be allowed to access hostels as they would be admitted in batches.
He said 100 and 200 levels would move in first from Thursday and expect to vacate the hostels on or before Saturday, September 11, 2021 .
The 500 level Faculty of Law students would move in 28 August and vacate 5 September.
All the 300 level students would come in 11 September and leave 18 September.
Oladejo said the 400 and other 500 level students would move into the hostels on Saturday, September 18 and vacate on Sunday, September 26.
The registrar also stated that extant rules and regulations with penalties guiding hostel residency are to be complied with by all students.
