The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
He was taken from the airport on Thursday to the commission’s office to answer questions over alleged misappropriation of state funds to the tune of N551 billion.
His son, Chinedu, who is the speaker of the State House of Assembly is also being quizzed by the EFCC after he showed up on learning that his father had been arrested.
The Punch reports that Orji was arrested at the airport around 10.00am on Thursday.
Another of Orji’s son, Ogbonna is also being investigated with his father over misappropriation of public fund.
EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed that Orji is still with the commission and is being grilled over allegation of fraud.
