Edo receives 76,712 doses of COVID-19 vaccines

Edo State Government has taken delivery of 76,712 doses of Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines from the Federal Government.

According to the Health Educator of Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ESPHDA), Mrs. Irene Uabor, the vaccines include 65,016 doses of Moderna and 11,696 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

Uabor who reassured the government’s commitment to contain the pandemic, said all is set for the commencement of the second phase COVID-19 vaccination roll-out in the state.

She added that Edo is ready to commence the distribution of the vaccines to different locations where they would be administered.

Uabor urged residents in the state to take advantage of the opportunity of the second phase exercise to get inoculated against the deadly virus.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki will on Monday, August 23, 2021, flag-off the second round of vaccination campaign to enable more residents take the vaccines to protect them from COVID-19.

“The state government has completed training for healthcare workers across all levels to effectively deliver the vaccines to Edo people.

“We are calling on all Edo people who have not been vaccinated to come out and get the vaccines as they are safe, free and effective,” she said.
