Just In: Bandits release 15 kidnapped Baptist students

Fifteen more abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Damishi, Kaduna State, have regained their freedom.

This came after 48 days in captivity.

The bandits had on July 5, invaded the school and kidnapped an unspecified number of students.

However, Rev. John Hayab, the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), confirmed to newsmen on Sunday that I5 students have been freed.

“Fifteen more students were released on Saturday night and 65 students are still with the bandits, ” he said.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, spokesperson for the Kaduna police command also confirmed the release of the Bethel Baptist students.

Jalige, however, said that the police were not aware whether ransom was paid by the parents before the students release or not.

“We are not aware whether or not a ransom was paid by the parents,” he said.
