Eight people died of COVID-19 related health issues on Sunday as Nigeria logged 388 new cases of the virus.

Although the cumulative caseload rose to 187,023, Sunday’s figure marked a sharp decline from the 1,064 cases on Saturday.

According to NCDC, the country’s death toll now stands at 2,268.

Eleven states and the FCT reported the new cases on Sunday as active COVID-19 cases jumped to 16,300.

The NCDC said 135 people were discharged, raising recoveries to 168,455.
