Abia govt moves to evacuate indigenes from UNIJOS

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has dispatched a team to evacuate all students from Abia State currently trapped at the University of Jos, Plateau State.

The move followed an alarm raised by the students of the University on Thursday over the continuous attack and killing of students in the campus.

In a statement on Monday by Abia Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, he revealed that the team dispatched by the governor was led by Mr. Chibuzo Ndom, Special Assistant on Students Affairs to the governor.

The team also had security personnel who are to ensure the safe return of over 200 students in the university back to the state capital, Umuahia.

Governor Ikpeazu, himself would welcome the students back home.

Similarly, Ogun State government has also evacuated some students and corps members trapped in UNIJOS, with more evacuation by the state government still ongoing.

Kogi State government on Saturday revealed that it had evacuated all Kogi students from the state who were trapped in the university while Benue State also evacuated its indigenes in the university on Friday.
