Police in Rivers State Police Command are now on the manhunt for robbers who burgled the Automated Teller Machine(ATM), at the motor park in Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.

According to witnesses the robbers dressed in Nigerian Police uniform and fully armed with explosives and other weapons operated without resistance from the security men at the school’s Main Gate and the nearby police division.

The robbers ordered the School security personnel on duty to open the gate.

On entering, they headed straight to the Polaris Bank, tied up the shuttle drivers who slept at the park as well as the security personnel guarding the ATM.

They blew open the ATM and carted away all the money inside.

After the more than an hour operation the gunmen hijacked one of the Campus shuttle buses and used it as their getaway vehicle..

SP Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Command Spokesman confirmed the incident but did not give details.

The management of Polaris Bank was yet to react to the robbery or disclose the money lost.
