Obaseki shocked, saddened by Uwaifo’s death

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed shock and sadness upon the death of legendary musician, Sir Victor Uwaifor.

Governor Obaseki in a short statement on Sunday described the death of the musician as a loss to Edo State, Nigeria and the black race.

He also said the late musician was a talented illustrious son of Edo State who wowed the world with his musical talent.

The governor said the late musician brought the contemporary Benin culture to world stage.

Obaseki prayed God to grant Uwaifo’s family and associates the fortitude to bear the loss.

“I received the news of the loss of legendary musician and art teacher, Prof. Victor Uwaifo, with shock and sadness.

“An all-round artist, Prof. Uwaifo was an enigma, who made music for all, bringing the contemporary Benin culture to the world stage and providing vicarious experience of the peculiarities of our art and culture to a global audience.

“May God will grant the Uwaifo family, friends, associates and well wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement said.
