Bandits terrorising Nigerians in the northwest are most likely to be foreigners, Bishop Martin Uzoukwu, Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese has said.

Uzoukwu made the observation in an interview with newsmen in Minna on Monday.

He said that the federal Government should flush out those behind the banditry and deport them to their countries.

He said that the any foreign national resident in Nigeria without proper valid papers should be deported for peace to reign in the country.

Uzoukwu said that late President Shehu Shagari deported Ghanaians in 1982.

He said as long as the deportation will bring about peaceful coexistence among the governed, let the government do it.

Uzoukwu explained that the activities of the bandits in the north west pose a great threat to the nation corporate existence.

“The killings of innocent Nigerians in the name of banditry and kidnapping have been going on unabated as if some people are licensed to kill and destroy other peoples’ property even without any provocations.

“It is high time for the Federal Government to deploy the political will in ending the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians.”

“The Federal Government should provide enabling environment for all and sundry to enhance socio-economic growth of our country.

“The Government should provide state of the art equipment to security agencies and improve welfare package to safeguard our lives and property”, he said.

‘Security agencies should bring all those behind these happenings to book so that others might learn to fear God and allow us to have peace in our country.

“I strongly appeal to Nigerians to help our security agencies with intelligence to track down and bring all those behind kidnapping and banditry to justice.”

“All these issues of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism should stop for us to build a nation of our dreams, so that this nation can become one of the giants in the world”, he said.
