The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kogi State has condemned the gruesome murder of Chukwu Obiahu, a staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Chukwu, an engineer, was reportedly stoned to death by unidentified persons on Tuesday after he closed from work.
Kogi State NUJ chairman, Comrade Momohjimoh Adeiza at a Press Conference condemned the murder.
He called on security agents to unravel the circumstances behind the death of the engineer.
Comrade Adeiza described the late NTA staff as a gentleman whose life was cut short by men of the underworld.
He commiserated with the NTA over the loss.
The NUJ chairman also stated that it is now becoming difficult to go about legitimate business in Nigeria this days.
“A young man who went to work to do his legitimate duty was killed on his way home. It is so sad, very unfortunate.
” I will want to call the Nigeria police, to do everything possible to unravel the circumstances behind the death of that young man.
“It is becoming increasingly difficult for people to do their legitimate business anywhere in Nigeria today.
“From the available information, he was a staff of NTA who was going back home and was later killed.
“I want to commiserate with the family of the deceased and the entire NTA all over the country over the unfortunate incident.”
