Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued passengers kidnapped on Bodo Sea route on Monday, while traveling to Port Harcourt.

The kidnappers had attacked the 10-passenger boat and abducted them to an unknown destination.

Police said they were able to arrest one of the suspected kidnappers while others were on the run.

Officer-in-charge of the Marine Police, Bonny, SP Solomon Adeniyi, confirmed this development on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

Adeniyi stated that some of the kidnappers were apprehended in Bodo Town in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers and the victims were freed.

Chairman of the Bodo Unit of the Bonny Marine Transporters, Tamunotonye Jumbo also confirmed the rescue of the victims by the Police.

“Yes, the Police have arrested one of the suspected kidnappers. Others were still on the run but Police have vowed to go after them,” he said.

He informed that one of the kidnap suspects was apprehended by the Police in Bodo Town and was already helping the Police in its investigation of the incident.
