Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.
The manager made a perfect start to his Spurs tenure after taking over from Jose Mourinho.
Santo kicked things off with a terrific 1-0 win over champions Manchester City on the opening weekend without star player Harry Kane.
The win was followed with successive 1-0 victories over Wolves and Watford, with Tottenham the only Premier League side who still have a 100% winning record this season.
Nuno revealed his delight at receiving the award, paying tribute to his backroom staff during an interview posted on the league’s official website.
West Ham United’s Michail Antonio named player of the month
Michail Antonio on the other hand was voted EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August.
The West Ham United forward was recognised for his outstanding start to the 2021/22 campaign, which sees him lead the goal charts after three rounds of top-flight matches.
His bright start to the season saw him become West Ham’s all-time record Premier League goalscorer and reach 50 top-flight goals for the club.
“It’s amazing, to be fair!” he smiled. “I go out and do my job and to get the gratitude and awards for doing it is amazing, he told West Ham’s official website.
“August was just another month, you know! To be fair, it’s amazing. I saw that I was quite close to becoming the record holder and I’ve been going for it and now I want to get as far ahead as possible so nobody can catch me!”
Antonio was the favourite to win the trophy for a second time, following his triumph in July 2020.
The Jamaican enjoyed an outstanding August as he net four goals and three assists.
