Some members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday allegedly disrupted the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Imo State.
According to reports, The incident took place at the comprehensive secondary school Nkume community, Njaba Local Government Area of the state.
A video that emerged on social media captured the thugs chasing out students and invigilators from the exam hall.
The thugs also set the roof of the hall on fire.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo, CSP Mike Abattam, however, confirmed seeing the video.
Abattam said the police were still checking the video clips to ascertain the truth before issuing any statement.
He said: “Yes we have seen the video, we are still verifying its authenticity because anything can happen on social media”
IPOB had insisted on its earlier sit-at-home directive on Mondays in Imo despite all-important English language exams scheduled for the same day.
