Lagos logs 62 COVID-19 deaths in two days

Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 18 Covid-19 deaths as it also surpassed the 200,000 grim milestone in the confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The milestone took more than 18 months to reach since 27 February 2020, when the first positive case was identified in an Italian traveller.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease (NCDC), COVID-19 cases have jumped to 200,057.

Nigeria hit the milestone, with 519 new cases from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

On Monday 387 cases were reported.

Lagos reported 120 cases on Tuesday, , Ondo 110, Rivers 74, Edo 63, FCT (58), Oyo 31.

With 18 fatalities logged on Tuesday, Nigeria’s death toll is now 2,637.

Active cases slumped to 8, 701 from the 10,135 reported on Monday.

Recoveries stood at 188, 719.
