Nigerian Air Force admits bombing Buhari village

The Nigerian Air Force has denied carrying out any operations in Buhari village in Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State on Wednesday.

Multiple reports claimed that nine innocent lives were taken during the attack but NAF said the report “is false in its entirety.”

The spokesperson of the Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a press statement said:

“This tweet (report) is false in its entirety. The NAF last conducted a mission in Yobe State (not Yunusari LGA) on September 5, 2021, and it was an armed recce. No bomb or missile was even expended.”

However, despite the denial, the Governor of Yobe state Mai Mala Buni has commiserated with the victims of the attack.

Buni said the airstrike on the village in Yunusari local government area could have been an accident or mistaken target.

He said his government will join hands with the security agencies to unravel the root cause of the incident.

“Government will work closely with the security forces especially the Nigeria Airforce to establish what actually happened” Governor Buni assured.
