COVID-19 daily cases increase in Nigeria

Nigeria’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 2647 on Thursday after the Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced seven new deaths.

Daily cases also jumped to 601, an increase of 299 compared with the cases reported on Wednesday.

Active cases in the country now stand at 8,964, a little above the 8,799 reported 24 hours earlier.

According to NCDC, 16 states and Abuja reported the 601 new infections.

This raised the total number of confirmed infections in Nigeria to 200,957.

“Today’s report includes 25 cases reported for Akwa Ibom State for 15th (13) and 16th (12) September and 28 cases reported from Kaduna State for 15th (21) and 16th (7) September”, NCDC said.

NCDC also revealed that samples tested have reached 2,942,578.

The discharged also rose to 189, 346 as at Sept. 16.
