Barau Muazu: speculated to have been picked as new Kontagora emir

Kontagora Kingmakers have made their choice of the successor to the late emir. And the popular choice appears to be the businessman, Muhammad Barau Muazu.

He emerged among 47 contenders and was said to have the backing of five kingmakers.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Shehu Yusuf Galadima however refused to announce who the new emir is.

He said only the Niger State government has the mandate to announce the winner.

“The kingmakers did their best but only the Executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has the mandate to declare the winner who will be the substantive new emir.

“They are 47 in number and it is only one that is going to emerge. So, whoever that emerges is among them; they are all families,” he said.
