The Police in Abuja have arrested three suspects who specialised in robbing places of worship in the Federal Capital Territory.

The police statement signed by Commissioner Frank Mba identified two of the suspects.

One was Monday Akawu, ‘m’ 39yrs, who impersonates personnel of the Nigerian Army to enable the gang move the stolen items to their intended criminal receivers.

The other was Joseph Orazulike ‘m’ 35yrs who is a receiver of the stolen items.

According to the police, the gang specialised in theft of musical instruments from churches.

The suspects revealed to the Police team how they broke into 50 churches.

The police recovered from the suspects over 30 specialized musical equipment and other electronic gadgets stolen from different churches.

The suspects were among the 50 high level criminals recently arrested by the police.

Also nabbed was a highway robbery gang in the south west, linked with about 50 incidents on the major highways in region.

The leader of the gang was one Mohammed Mode a.k.a Basullube from Gugu in Kwara State.

His gang members were Abdullahi Mohammed from Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Musa Adamu from Otte Village, Kwara State and Abdullahi Ali from Orita Gambari in Oyo State.

All the gangsters are within age bracket of 21 – 27 years.
