A mass shooter reported at a Kroger supermarket in Collierville, a suburb east of Memphis, Tennessee, the United States, has taken his own life.

This was after shooting 13 people, some bearing serious wounds.

Police authorities said the suspected shooter died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Collierville police, 12 of the injured, were evacuated to the hospital.

One of the injured walked into the hospital himself.

According to ABC News, when the shooting broke out at about 1.30 p.m, some hid in freezers and locked offices.

One employee fled to the roof and was escorted to safety by police.

The suspected shooter’s car remains in the store parking lot, police said. Resources are being brought in to safely inspect the vehicle.

Collierville is about 30 miles from Memphis.

Memphis police said its officers are helping secure the scene.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also on the scene.
