President Ram Nath Kovind of India has sent his congratulations to the government and people of Nigeria on the occasion of the 61st independence of the country.

The Indian president in a congratulatory message sent to President Muhammadu Buhari conveyed his best wishes and prayed for continued prosperity in Nigeria.

This was conveyed in a statement by Femi Adesina Special Adviser on Media & Publicity to President Buhari on Thursday.

As Nigeria set to celebrate its Independence on Friday, October 1, 2021, President Konvid noted that Nigeria and India have deep rooted ties.

He stated further that relations between both countries have been expanded and strengthened with the cordial relations both country share at different levels.

‘‘India and Nigeria have warm, friendly and deep rooted ties. Our multifaceted relations have further been expanded and strengthened by regular and cordial engagements at various levels, Adeshina quoted Kovind.

‘‘India and Nigeria have strong relations. Despite challenges during the pandemic, our economic relations have gained strength.

‘‘Please accept my best wishes for Your Excellency’s good health and well-being as well as for the continued prosperity and progress of the friendly people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’
