A man simply identified as Stephen narrowly escaped being lynched on Thursday after he was allegedly caught in a homosexual act with another man in a public toilet located in Mile 3 Motor Park, Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Stephen said to be in his early 40s and father of one was rescued by officers from Nkpolu Police Divisional Headquarters Mile 3, Port Harcourt from the angry mob, it was gathered.

In an interview with journalists, the attendant of the public toilet, Mr Vitalis Andrew, revealed  that  Stephen and the another man who was able to escape from the angry mob had paid to use different toilet room in the facility.

But, according to the attendant,  someone using another toilet in the facility at the same time over heard moaning like that of a man making love to a woman.

Out of curiosity, he  climbed the wall that separates the two toilet rooms and allegedly saw Stephen having sex with his follow man.

Immediately, the man who peeped at them raised an alarm and Stephen and his partner fled.

He added that Stephen was later caught by traders and others doing business at the park.

The pubic toilet attendant said he later called one Mr Chamberline Dappa, the Manger of the Public toilet in the park and told him about the incident.

Confirming this, Mr Dappa told journalists that when he heard about the incident, he quickly called in the Police who came in almost immediately and rescued the suspected homosexual from mob action.

Mr Dappa explained that he went with the suspect to the Police station and made statement about what transpired in his facility.

He said the Police asked him to bring the witness who allegedly saw Mr Stephen having sex with another man.

When contacted,the spokesperson for Rivers State Police, SP Nnamdi Omoni assured our correspondent that he will get in touch with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station.
