Scores of protesters on Friday, Nigeria’s independence day hit the street of Abuja, the federal capital territory to demand the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The protesters assembled along the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja with placards bearing the inscription #Buhari must go.

Protesters also barricaded the express with tires and started a bonfire as the protest has caused serious traffic for commuters plying the road.

However, at press time, armed police officers have been deployed to the location to disperse protesters.

Police operatives fired tear gas and pursued protesters from the protest site.
