There was no COVID-19 related death in Nigeria on Saturday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said in its latest update.

However it reported 138 new cases of the virus, escalating the caseload to 206,064.

Saturday offered some breather in death toll, as the country for several days, consecutively recorded deaths.

The death toll remains at 2,723.

The 138 fresh infections also offered some relief as 161 cases were reported on Friday.

Six states and the FCT of Abuja accounted for the new 138 cases, the NCDC said.

It noted that the latest infections included 18 cases reported from Benue State for Sept. 30 as well as Oct. 1 and 2.

The NCDC said that the number of active cases in Nigeria now stands at 9,386, slightly lower than the 9,404 cases reported on Friday.

NCDC also said 193,893 people have been discharged and 3,043,321 samples tested.
