CP Abutu Yaro: Anambra United asks Inspector-General of Police to deploy him to Anambra to tackle rampaging gunmen

By Ikechukwu Iweajunwa

A group, Anambra United, on Wednesday asked the Inspector-General of Police to deploy CP Abutu Yaro to Anambra to tackle the so-called unknown gunmen who have been on rampage in various parts of the state in the past few weeks.

Anambra had come under serious attacks by gunmen in the past few weeks with hoodlums attacking All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship campaign rally on Tuesday.

But Anambra United believes that Abutu Yaro, former commissioner of Police in Imo State has the experience to bring the rampaging gunmen under control.

“With Yaro as CP in Anambra, police will easily weed out hoodlums terrorising the state,’’ President-General of the group, Dr Kenneth Ibe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri.

Ibe stressed that CP Yaro had the capacity to check insecurity in Anambra.

“The IGP should as a matter of urgency, redeploy CP Yaro to Anambra before the November governorship election, because we all saw how he checked insecurity in other states where he served.

“Yaro is a lion in the field of operation. We need him to replicate the feat he achieved in Imo and in other states.

Yaro was redeployed to Imo from Zamfara in May after gunmen attacked Imo Police Command and the Correctional Centre in Owerri.

He was later redeployed to Abuja after dislodging many camps allegedly belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
