Nigeria’s international Victor Osimhen scored the only goal of the match on Sunday as Napoli beat Torino to move top of Serie A table.
The Nigerian striker has now scored five goals in the league this season.
The match was heading for a draw when Osimhen struck on 81 minutes to send the crowd into an uproar.
The tall striker got to a rebound inside the six-yard box and produced a header. He managed to put the ball inside the left post, and thus alter the score to make it 1-0 for his team.
Torino did well to stifle Napoli in the opening stages, keeping their defence disciplined and forcing the hosts to send Osimhen hunting for percentage passes.
They found avenues forward down the right flank and caught Napoli sleeping on occasion, but lacked conviction around the goalmouth.
A rash challenge from early substitute Ben Lhassine Kone gifted Napoli a clear penalty after 27 minutes which seemed to undo their hard work, but Lorenzo Insigne’s disappointing effort was saved by Vanja Milinković-Savić to keep the game goalless.
Napoli continued to grow into the game, fashioning half-chances from wide areas and overloading in search of a lead before half time, but Torino hung on.
Osimhen’s late strike, however, did the magic as Napoli took all three points.
