Governors Seyi Makinde, Nyesom Wike, Aminu Tambuwal and Okezie Ipeazu of Oyo, Rivers, Sokoto and Abia states, in that order, visited former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko today. Their mission was to woo him from the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

To make the mission easy, individuals who are close to Mimiko and are of the state extraction were present. They are former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi; three members of the Ondo state house of assembly, Rasheed Elegbeleye, Tomide Akinribido, Festus Akingbaso; former speaker, Jumoke Akindele; former chief Judge, Olaseinde Kumuyi and deputy governorship Candidate of ZLP in the 2020 election, Gboye Adegbenro.

A former House of Reps member, Joseph Akinlaja, ex-governorship aspirant, Banji Okunomo, as well as Dr Kola Ademujimi, Eni Akinsola, John-Paul Akinduro, Andrew Ogunsakin, Ayo Fadoju, Afolabi Akinsiku, Bolanle Olafunmiloye, Funmilola Oluwadare, Taye Afilaka among other top former senior aides to Mimiko were also there.

Mimiko left the Peoples Democratic Party in 2018 to form the Zenith Labour Party under which the former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi contested the governorship election with the incumbent Rotimi Akeredolu. Akeredolu won.
