Amb. Taofeek Arapaja: defeats former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola in the contest for PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) position

Efforts of former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, to occupy a national position in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, failed again early Sunday morning as he was defeated in the election for the Deputy National Chairman (South) at the just concluded National Convention the party by a former deputy governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja.

Arapaja, an ally of Governor Seyi Makinde who is also the National Secretary of PDP defeated the retired military massively, scoring 2,004 votes against Mr Oyinlola’s 705 votes.

The victory of Arapaja, currently, the national vice chairman (Southwest) of PDP was received with wild jubilation at the Eagle Square venue of the PDP Convention in the early hours of Sunday when it was announced.

However, former Senate President, Iyorcha Ayu was affirmed as the national chairman of the party as the only candidate on the ballot for the position by the over 3000 delegates.

Also, Senator Samuel Ayu was affirmed as the National Secretary alongside candidates for 16 other positions.
