Senator Shehu Sani has asked the Nigerian government to declare bandits as federal civil servants since pronouncing them terrorists appears difficult.
Nigerians and groups have continued to call on the Buhari administration to declare bandits as terrorists.
However, the government has remained adamant to the calls, saying that there is a process to declare a group as a terrorist organization.
Bandits and kidnappers are on rampage in the North West, killing, kidnapping, and maiming residents.
In a tweet on Monday morning, the former federal lawmaker represented Kaduna Central District at the 8th Assembly, said if the Government doesn’t want to declare them terrorists, it should declare them federal civil servants.
He tweeted: “Yesterday’s attacks on the Baptist Church Kakau Daji, Kaduna state by terrorists, the killing of some worshippers and the abductions of scores of others is tragic and unfortunate. The suspension of the telecom services in the North is useless.”
In another tweet, he said, “They [bandits] killed Muslim worshipers in their mosques in Niger and Katsina State; they killed Christians in their Churches in Kaduna State; if the Government doesn’t want to declare them terrorists, it should declare them federal civil servants.”
