Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra, business women have thrown their weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba.

The group made up of over 3,500 business women under the aegis of United Business Women Association of Nigeria in Diaspora, said they decided to back the APC flag bearer because his manifesto is women-friendly.

President of the group, Mrs. Nkiru Duru who spoke during the endorsement ceremony, said Senator Uba is the only candidate who looked their direction out of all the candidates.

“Among all the 18 governorship candidates contesting the election, only Sen. Andy Uba has identified with us sincerely and pragmatically.

“Before October 31, our doors were opened for all the governorship candidates to come and convince us with their individual and party manifestos.

“We were also waiting to hear how business women would be carried along in government, governance and business opportunities when any of them wins the election.

“It was only Senator Andy that came to us, presented his manifesto and convinced us that when elected, he will ensure we have good access to favourable business loan opportunities.

“He also promised to give us political appointment opportunities. Since he has recognised us and also believed in our objectives, conscience demands we support him by voting for him.”

Responding, Senator Uba assured the women facilitation of their business loans with favourable conditions.

“See me as your partner in progress. I assure each of you that when I emerge Governor, I will facilitate good business loans with favorable conditions,” he said.

The endorsement ceremony took place in Umudioka, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State.
