The Glover brand, an affiliate of Patricia, the associate sponsor of Big Brother Naija Season 6 tagged “Shine Ya Eye” has revealed that being part of the reality TV show impacted tremendously on the start-up company.
According to the management of the company, the brand recorded its highest number of sign-ups and transaction volumes during the duration of the show.
“Glover also displayed two commercials on the show and engaged Housemates in Glover-branded tasks. In August alone we had over 110k transaction volumes. The brand became more visible and many more people got to know about the brand,” says the Brand Manager for Glover, Humphrey Ogbodo,
“We have also been able to set up a structure that enables Glover to function as an independent company under the Patricia Universe. In addition to producing and airing two television commercials to expand on our service offering, we expanded the Glover services from Nigeria to Ghana and also successfully brought on board some of the biggest lifestyle influencers in Nigeria and Ghana to the Glover brand,” says Humphrey Ogbodo, rounding up on the achievements of the brand in its seven months of existence.
Glover was a child of providence that was birthed as a necessity in a face of adversity. When the Central Bank of Nigeria banned bitcoin trading and cryptocurrency business in Nigeria, Patricia reacted by devolving its non-crytocurrency to another arm of the company which came in the form of Glover.
Patricia had explained, “As an organization, we had to create a new platform for the non-crypto services that used to be on the Patricia platform – Giftcards, Refill and Airtime2Cash. This was due to the government ban on crypto-related platforms.”
The Glover brand was launched on Friday, 19th of March, 2021, following the Central Bank of Nigeria’s pronouncement on February 5, 2021 through a circular addressed to banks and other financial institutions with the directive that transactions in cryptocurrencies and facilitating payment for cryptocurrency exchanges were prohibited.
With only 6 months of existence under her belt, the brand drew a lot of attention from the media, even on Television in its appearance on the Sixth Season of the Big Brother Naija “Shine Ya Eye” show.
The brand also went further to engage the housemates in a game of memory, where they were tasked to answer true or false questions about the Glover brand. They were also tasked with presenting a Glover commercial using the key products of the brand- Giftcards, Refill, and Airtime2Cash.
