Al Sadd have confirmed that Xavi has left the club to take over as Barcelona head coach, following Ronaldo Koeman’s sacking.
The club made the announcement in a statement on Friday after negotiations with the delegation sent by Barcelona became a success.
“The administration agreed on the transfer of Xavi to Barcelona after paying the penalty clause stipulated in the contract. We agreed with Barcelona on practical cooperation in the future, Xavi is an important part of the history and we wish him all success in the next stage,” the statement read.

The 41-year-old will replace Ronald Koeman, who was sacked last week following a poor start to the campaign.
Xavi left Barcelona in 2015 after helping the club win 25 trophies, including four Champions Leagues and eight La Liga titles, in 17 seasons.
