The Coalition of Buhari Support Groups in Jigawa on Sunday cleared the air on the comment made by Gov. Muhammad Badaru on the 2023 governorship primaries in the state.

The coalition had visited Badaru’s office on Friday.

However, after the visit, a section of media reported that the governor said he “could only support a 2023 governorship aspirant in the state chosen by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Meanwhile, Musa Guri, Chairman, Coalition of Buhari Support Groups in Jigawa, said Badaru never made such a comment.

Guri said that Badaru was misquoted.

He said that there was never a time during the visit when Badaru made known his stand on the 2023 governorship aspirants in Jigawa.

“The governor is only saying that he is going to support any presidential aspirant supported by President Muhammadu Buhari and not a governorship aspirant in Jigawa State as reported in the media,” Guri said.

He, therefore, urged Jigawa residents to ignore such reports and reassured them of his groups’ determination toward protecting the people’s choice by ensuring transparency during the 2023 primary elections in the state.

The chairman also said that the groups would no longer support some political appointees and elected officials who betrayed the people’s trust.
