After it reported a backlog of eight and 10 COVID-19 deaths in succession, Edo has reported yet another 11 deaths, raising Nigeria’s death toll to 2,960.
Again, the NCDC did not explain the errant data rendering by the state as it announced 51 new cases of the virus in five states.
Edo did not also explain when the deaths occurred as the data cements its second place as the state with most fatal COVID cases after Lagos.
Its death toll is now 272 out of 6,598 confirmed cases, a ratio of one death to 24 cases, Nigeria’s worst.
Lagos has 732 deaths out of 77,945 cases, a ratio of one death to 104 cases.
Abuja FCT, with the third highest death toll of 223 has, like Lagos, a ratio of one death to 104 cases.
A breakdown of the 51 new cases announced by NCDC , shows that Katsina led with 34.
Lagos registered 11 cases, but five of them were recorded on 11 November and six on 13 November.
Kano recorded three cases, Cross River two and Bauchi one case.
Total number of confirmed cases in the country is now 213,127, out of 3,392,457 tested samples.
According to the NCDC statistics, a total of 205,491 Nigerians had been discharged from various isolation centres across the country.
Active cases have now plunged to 4,676
