Lagos Eko Lions Club District 404A1 Nigeria has officially made Lion Sina Agbeluyi its 38th president during an elaborate Fundraising and Investiture ceremony held on Saturday, Nov 2021 in Lagos.
Agbeluyi, during his acceptance speech, expressed profound gratitude to the club members for bestowing such honour on him promising to do everything possible to uphold the integrity of the club.
His core project, he said is as a matter of priority to take mobile clinics to the less privileged in the society.
He added that the club will be providing some communities in its catchment area access to portable clean water as a way of giving back to the society while setting a legacy of selfless service.
“This is an opportunity for me to contribute my own quota to the community in the tradition of our founding father, Melvin Jones and all the past presidents of this great club.
“We as a club and under my purview will be working in line with Lion’s Clubs International LCI’s objectives and mandates which are protecting our environment, feeding the needy, providing medical services and helping to improve the society in all ramifications.
“As a matter of urgency, we plan to take mobile clinics to the less privileged in tandem with our objectives which is HEALTH IS WEALTH.
“We will also be providing access to portable clean water to some communities in our catchment area,” Agbeluyi said.
Dr Oladimeji Alao, the chairman of the day, during his speech, said that the club has carried out several impactful and laudable projects in the community.
He said Lions Club is out solely to serve humanity, impart lives, facilitate efficient and cost-effective humanitarian projects.
He stressed that clubs like Lions Club, Rotary Club and other humanitarian clubs are poised to push to the consciousness of the government, the needful as it concerns the masses.
Alo emphasised that these clubs in rendering services to humanity also make a case before the government of the day on the plight of the masses.
He encouraged the club members and all good-hearted Nigerians to support the president morally and financially, stressing that the club needs resources to be able to execute the number of projects that were on ground for the Lions’ year.
District Governor 2021-2022, Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma, represented by Lion Kola Oyekanmi expressed satisfaction over the event and lauded Agbeluyi while reiterating her confidence that he would perform well, following his precedence when he served as the President of Roots Club of Ijesa Land.
Some of the dignitaries present at the event were Lion Kayode Oshinuga, District Governor, District 404B2 Nigeria, President and Members of Roots Club of Ijesa Land, HRH (Dr) Adetayo Haastrup, Olumobi of Imobi Ijesa, Osun State.
Also present was Prince Samson Ataiyero who was the Special Guest of Honour, Oba (Dr) David Adewale Ojarotade, Ala of Ilaa Ijesa and others.
The event also saw the installation of other club officers for the 2021-2022 Lions Year.
