Warsaw, Poland-based Nigerian indigenous singer and songwriter, Dris Olabamiji Bashir, musically known as 7Star Dris has declared that the “Dumebi” and “Ginger Me” crooner, Rema is the future of Nigerian music.

Although he upholds that there are many great artistes in Nigeria, he picked King Sunny Ade as his legend and mentioning Olamide and 9ice as his favourites.

“I love Davido because of the recognition he has garnered for himself in global music. Then there is Tuface because of the good lyrics and his long-standing consistency. Tiwa Savage comes into the picture for me because of her angelic voice.

“Her energy is amazing and electrifying. In fact, Nigeria is massive right now but Rema in my own opinion is the future of African music. His music is stimulating and has great potential,” he declared.

But as an indigenous artist, 7Star Dris seems to be particularly fond of the African dialect and singing in the mother’s tongue or language. It is of little surprise that he would pick King Sunny Ade, Olamide and 9ice as his best artists in Nigeria

“King Sunny Ade remains my favorite Nigerian artist of all time. He is a legend that brought our local language and sounds to the world stage for the first time and has continued to do so to this day. There are 9ice and Olamide because of their indigenous lyrics,” he stated.

“Yes, because if we sing more with our mother’s language and translate it well for the world to know how rich and educative the message we are passing ism it will go a long way in enriching the quality of our output. Definitely most of my crafts are influenced by words, stories from fan , friends and family,” he affirmed

On his own kind of music 7Star Dris said he has a steady source of motivation that drives him to always do music in easy ways.

“I’m passionate about my content and I love what I do. This passion led me to challenge myself daily and learn new skills that helps me to do something extraordinary. My influences are creating diverse and border-less music, content and designs that are relatable to different cultures, traditions and communities,” he stated.

He added, “Most of my crafts are influenced by words, stories from fans, friends and family.

Yes, fans influence my music because I want to always give them the best they can’t get anywhere else.”

He also revealed that the community he was born and grew up in had different vibes that shaped the world he now lives in.

“So, those transition periods and moments have many stories to write about. I also started graphics on analog, mixing colors and drawing. For some reason, it sticks to the brain. Moreover, my inspiration comes from all the deep local dialects my late mum always used when advising me about life in general,” he said

7Star Dris is also the CEO of RG Global Consult, a company that sells musical instruments and also into property development.

He is also into show promotions and organisation, which had seen him taken Jawon, Wande Coal and football personality like Lawal Rahim to Europe

For about a decade, he was a graphics designer for different artists and promoters. He spent a lot of time together with them, creating content, lyrics and stories. His major forte and influences are in creating diverse and broader music, content and designs that are relatable to different cultures, traditions and communities.
