President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday sent a delegation of Ministers and aides to represent him at the funeral of Kano businessman and industrialist, the Walin Daura, Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura.

The late founder of the Bayajidda Group of Companies, who passed on in Dubai on Sunday at the age of 90 after a protracted illness.

He was buried in Kano on Tuesday, with funeral prayers offered at the Palace of the Emir.

The President’s delegation was led by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika and his and Water Resources counterpart, Engineer Sulaiman Adamu were part of the delegation.

Also in the presidential team were Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu and the Deputy Chief Security Officer, Maikano Abdullahi, who is an in-law of the deceased.

They were joined by some of the President’s close relations from Daura, led by Alhaji Musa Daura, Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkul, the President’s home town.

Malami delivered the President’s condolence to the people of Kano, through the Emir, Aminu Bayero and to the family of the deceased at Yar Mai Shinkafi quarters in Kano City.

“I wish to commiserate with you on the demise of well-known businessman and industrialist, Walin Daura, Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura.

“His death is a great loss not only to Katsina and Kano States but also the entire country because of his role in the nation’s economy.

“He was one of the oldest pioneer businessmen in the country who contributed immensely to the economy and helped to create jobs for hundreds of people. Men like Sani Buhari rose to success through sheer hardwork and drive.

“The late Sani Buhari demonstrated that we can achieve success through labour. His life story is inspiring because of his commitment to hardwork and perseverance.

“I pray for you, the Sani Buhari families in Daura and Kano, as well as Government and peoples of Katsina and Kano for the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Emir, who received the team along with his brother, the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero thanked the President for standing with the people of Kano in good and bad times.

At the residence of the late Sani Buhari, the delegation urged the children and family members to preserve the legacies of the deceased. His eldest son, Alhaji Buhari Sani, who spoke on behalf of the family expressed their gratitude to the President and wished him well as he manages the challenges facing the country.

They thanked the President and his government for acknowledging the contributions of their late father to the nation.

The Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who equally participated in the burial ceremonies conveyed appreciation of the people to the President, commending him for being kind, compassionate and humble at all times.
