The Benue State Police Command said its operatives have shot two of the gunmen who killed mourners in the state recently, dead during gun-duel.

The gunmen had shot dead four mourners at Imande Abul village, Mbater council ward, in the Logo Local Government Area of the state on November 13, 2021.

DSP Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson in a statement said detectives invaded the hideout of the hoodlums at Tse Nom in the Ukum LGA of the state on Sunday.

She said on sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in an intense gun duel, but that they were overpowered by the police.

According to her, three suspects were arrested with gunshot injuries and rushed to the General Hospital, Ugba, for treatment.

She disclosed that two of the suspects had been confirmed dead by a doctor, while one is responding positively to treatment.

Anene said the corpses of the deceased had been deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
