World War Two bomb explodes in Munich, 3 injured

Three people have been injured after a World War Two bomb exploded near a Munich train station, where drilling was taking place.

The blast happened during construction works near the Donnersberg bridge in Munich, injuring at least three people.

Station and trains have been suspended.

The boom was heard several miles away and one victim is said to be in a serious condition.

Police cordoned off the area and said there is no wider danger to the public.

Fire engines and around 50 emergency service members were at the scene while a police helicopter circled above.

Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said: ‘During drilling, an aerial bomb weighing 250 kilograms from the Second World War was hit.

“Debris flew hundreds of meters. The whole area is currently being searched.’
