Few days after he stirred some dust for meeting IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in DSS headquarters in Abuja, Senate chief whip Orji Uzor Kalu has sent tongues wagging again.
This followed his series of meetings with opposition figures.
Orji Kalu, a member of the ruling APC, first met former senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, who has declared interest in the 2023 presidential race.
A day after, he met Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who will on 9 December officially become the national secretary of the PDP.
All the meetings took place in Kalu’s Abuja home, behind closed doors.
Kalu who had also hosted the APC National leader, is rumoured to be coveting the presidency.
He reported all his meetings on Facebook, partly to assuage fears about his political moves.
On Wednesday, he reported the meeting with Pius Anyim.
“I played host this evening to my brother , former Senate President and former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim .
“We held a deep discussion about our region and our country, Nigeria at large”.
Similarly, after hosting Anyanwu on Thursday to a luncheon, he also publicised it:
“Received and held a luncheon with leaders of the opposition party- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu at my residence this afternoon”.
Anyanwu and other officials of the party arrived at the residence of the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District at precisely 12.28 pm.
The National Secretary of PDP and other leaders were welcomed by an associate of Kalu and was led straight to meet the Senate Chief Whip.
As the meeting commenced, other leaders of the main opposition party arrived in turn at Orji Uzor Kalu’s residence to join the the luncheon.
Orji Kalu, a two-term governor of Abia state, has said he is mulling the idea of joining the presidential race.
